Men!!!

A Scotsman phones a dentist to enquire about the cost for a tooth extraction.
"£85 for an extraction, Sir," the dentist replied.
"£85!!! Have you not got anythin' cheaper?"
"That's the normal charge," said the dentist.

"Whit aboot if ye didnt use any anesthetic?"

"That's unusual, sir, but I could do it and knock £15 off.

"Whit aboot if ye used one of your dentist trainees and still without an anesthetic?"

"I can't guarantee their professionalism and it'll be painful. But the price could drop to £40".

"How aboot if ye make it a trainin' session, ave yer student do the extraction with the other students watchin' and learnin'?"

It'll be good for the students", mulled the dentist. "and it's going to be very traumatic, but I'll charge you £5."

"Ooh, now yer talkin' laddie! It's a deal," said the Scotsman.

"...Can you confirm an appointment for the wife next Tuesday, then?"

Surjit Athwal killers sent to Life in Jail

Surjit Athwal was a 27 year old Indian, who was born in the U.K. She worked as a customs officer at Heathrow and married a fellow Indian who worked as a mini bus driver in Heathrow.
They had two kids together but she suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth in 1998.
Her husband's family didn't like her 'western ways'. They didn't like the fact that she had cut her hair short, smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol. They also suspected that she was cheating on her 43 year old husband. They allegedly confirmed her infidelity when she announced that she wanted a divorce. At a secret family meeting, the matriarch Bachan, 70, a mother of six, allegedly decreed that her daughter-in law had besmirched the family's honour, and said they needed to "get rid of her".
"Surjit was a vivacious girl, and while working at a customs officer at Heathrow as the main wage-earner in her family, had adapted a somewhat Westernised style of life. It may be that was not popular at home.
Her mother-in-law lured her to India on the pretext of attending a wedding but when she got there, her husband's brother was contracted to strangled her.
After she was killed, mother and son returned to the U.K. as if nothing had happened. They(mother-in-law and husband) forged threat letters to Scotland yard saying that her own father wanted her dead so that they wont be suspected of killing Surjit.

Shortly after her husband returned to U.K., he remarried and forged her signature,so he could claim her house as his.

The most amazing aspect of this story is that, Mother and Son live in the U.K.. One would think that they would have adapted to the Western life.

Anyways, prosecution and legal proceedings started after Surjit's brother,Jagdeesh Sing, reported the case and followed it up. After thorough investigations, both mother-in-law, Bachan, and her son, Sukhdave have been found guilty today and would each serve a life jail term. Surjit's mother-in-law who is 70, would spend at least 20 years in jail before she can be considered for release.
May God save us from wicked mother-in-laws O! Amen.

Richard Branson's generosity, Thailand Crash

The McCann's thought the two million pounds raised for Madeline would be used to cover their legal cost, but this was not to be. The people in charge of the fund for Madeleine said, it would only be used for what it was originally set for, to find Madeleine.

I haven't said anything about these 2 people cos, i think there is something going on that we don't know about. Only Gerry and Kate McCann know what is really going on.

When they were in Portugal, they vowed that they wouldn't leave the country until their daughter was found, however, as soon as they were named 'formal suspects', they decided to leave the country in a huge hurry. What happened to the vow they made?
Sir Richard Branson has pledged, a hundred thousand pounds (£100,000) to the McCann's to cover their legal cost. He said, he did this, so that they would be given a fair hearing. mmmm. Still no comment from me.

I was watching Sky News this morning and what did i see that was scrolled? 'News alert: Gerry and Kate McCann attend mass'. Reporters and photographers were seen taking pictures of them walking to church, hand in hand. What was that about? Don't they have better things to report about? Like the plane crash in Phuket, Thailand which occurred this morning? 'The McCann's went to church this morning', so fuck what? Who gives a toss?

I don't know why the press give unnecessary attention to some people.

They should concentrate on finding Madeleine or finding her killer(s). Please.

To the Thailand Plane Crash:
News report say that the pilot was given the clear to land, but because it was raining heavily and visibility was poor, he decided to manoeuvre the plane, but lost balance and crashed. The plane which carried people from Bangkok to Phuket, Thailand, split into two and burst into flames after it landed.
There were 123 passengers (most of whom were tourists) and seven crew members on board, . About 88 people have been declared dead.

There is a mini morgue near the airport for families to identify the bodies of their loved ones. Most of the passengers were tourists from the UK, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, Israel, the US, one Canadian, Iran etc.

About 90 people on board were foreigners and about 30 people survived the crash, with minor injuries, especially, face injuries and burns.

An investigation into what really happened has begun, fortunately the pilot and co-pilot survived the crash.

May the souls of the 88 passengers who were in the Phuket, Thailand, crash rest in Peace. Amen.

Celebrity News

Someone sent an email to http://www.perezhilton.blogspot.com/ telling him that Hollywood celebrities Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were in Tanzania recently for charity. (and perhaps to shoot a movie, speculation).
This is what they said to perezhilton: “My friends and I live in Tanzania, East Africa (BONGO) and we just bumped into Ben and Matt at a hotel while we were having happy hour. They were the most down to earth and most awesome guys we have met in a while ( THEY ARE NOW TANZANIAN LEGENDS!!). Honestly, they were so nice and were down to take a photo with us. Matt Damon even introduced himself!! How cool is that? Plus we are pleased to report that Ben Affleck is totally HOT! and very very tall. They are here for aid work and even after a full day, they still posed for a photo. We urge everyone to go watch the Bourne Ultimatum!!”
What i liked about the fact that they came to Africa is that, they didn't go with an entourage of cameras, if that person hadn't sent that email and picture, the public wouldn't have known they were there (in Tanzania) at all. That is what i like.
You don't have to announce to the whole world (like Brangelina) when u are doing something for charity. Let people see u and talk about Ur good work. Weldone guys!

The guy has been accused of breaking into a Casino hotel room in Las Vegas. It is reported that he took a sport memorabilia from the room while he was there. However, the dude claims he didn't break into the hotel, only took what belonged to him.
He said someone called to tell him that people were selling his stuff(stolen stuff), he arranged a meeting with the sellers and according to him 'took what belonged to him'.
If it is his, why not?

Chris Langham sentenced to 10 months imprisonment.
Top British comedian and Bafta award winner, Chris Langham, has (today, 14Th September)been sentenced to 10 months in jail for downloading child pornography.
The 58 year old admitted to downloading child porn but said he wasn't a pedophile. He said he was sexually abused as a child and was trying to deal with the ordeal he passed through by looking at indecent photographs of children.(Oyibo). He also claimed he downloaded these images because he was conducting a research for the BBC television series 'Help' and that he wanted to explore the way society viewed sex offenders through him. I think i believe him or....NOT. I don't know. The episodes for this show were never made.
His wife and three sons were in court when he was sentenced and were really disappointed with the result. His kids said they never, at any time, felt threatened by their father.
The good news (at least for his family) is that, Chris would only spend five(5) months of his ten(10) months jail term.

U-17 world champions + Update

The U-17 world champions (Nigeria Golden Eaglets) arrived Lagos yesterday. They were hailed by a huge crowd of people when they exited the airport. A large crowd of people hailed them as they slowly drove along the street of Lagos.

The Golden Eaglets with the Governor of Lagos state. Babatunde Fashola. (The governor is the one with the pink arrow pointing on him)
When the world champions arrived Lagos.
They were later hosted by the Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday in Lagos state.
The were treated to nice cultural dances , good food( i hope),etc., they were well entertained in general even though a lot of them looked like they could easily fall asleep right there at the party. Lol.
Oh! The main gist is that, the governor gave each player, four hundred thousand Naira (US$3150) worth of shares in a Lagos State company and a hundred thousand Naira(US$788) life insurance policy for winning the world cup.
Impressive eh? Lol.
They will be hosted in Abuja tomorrow by the president. I hope they get better prizes for winning the prestigious cup.
UPDATE
The delighted President, Umaru Musa Yar Adua, hosted the Eaglets at a Gala Nite held in their honour in Abuja over the weekend and announced the gifts of three-bedroom bungalows to each of the players and the eight officials. The houses situated in the Wuse area of the Federal Capital cost between N6.5m-N7m per unit.
He also gave each player the award of M.O.N. (Member of the Order of Niger) and each official the award/title of M.F.R. (Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria).mmm. Nice. I think.
The Eaglets will be hosted by other private companies later.

Elevator Entrapment Guidelines

If you become trapped in an elevator:

1. First and above all, don't attempt to get out between floors. Elevator injuries and fatalities have been due to people attempting to escape without knowledgeable personnel aiding them.

2. Be patient, remain calm, and use the emergency phone or emergency call button in the elevator cab to alert the guard in the control room, if u know it.

3. Inform the control room of your full name and that you are stalled in an elevator, the floor you are located on if indicated on the floor indicator, the cab number which is labeled on each elevator cab, and whether there is anyone else on the elevator with you.

4. If there is a medical emergency, ask that the control room contact the medical personnel to assist you. Note that there is plenty of air circulation into the elevator cab when it is not moving.

5. Wait for assistance from trained personnel. Security will keep you advised periodically on the call box. If you feel the need to do so, you may keep security on the line for your comfort. Call lines generally time out in 3 to 4 minutes, so pressing the call button may be required to reactivate communications.

6. Again, never attempt to open the doors of an elevator. Elevators are equipped with smart technology and can stop for a variety of reasons. Do not attempt to exit an elevator that is mis-positioned or un-leveled unless instructed to do so by trained personnel. Elevators can reset themselves automatically and begin moving without any prior warning.

Halle Berry is pregnant. yay!!!

Yay!!!! The most beautiful person in the whole wide world (my opinion) is pregnant.

Miss Halle Berry is now confirmed pregnant. My most beautiful woman in the whole world is three months pregnant. I am sooooooooo happy to hear this.
She and her good looking Canadian supermodel boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry of 2 years are expecting a baby. (I know i am repeating myself but i am so excited!)

Hurray! Hurray!! Hurray!!!

Imagine how beautifuuuuuuuuuuuuul that baby would be. Oooooh!!!

I am always overjoyed when beautiful, talented people have replicas of themselves.

I cant explain it. I just feel they cant let themselves go to waste, u know? go extinct with nothing to remember them by. They have got to give the world a mini-them....

Next people i am waiting for are Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Tyra Banks...etc.

Luciano Pavarotti is dead.

The world's greatest Opera singer, Luciano Pavarotti , is dead. He died at the age of 71 in his home in Modena, Italy.

The Italian singer was diagnosed of pancreatic cancer last year, he tried hard to fight the disease but the disease took over at 4 a.m. (Nigerian time) this morning.

He received an award from the Italian government for promoting the country's culture. He was the first person to receive this award.

One news that amazed me was the fact that Pavarotti's first love was football. He wanted to be a football player when he was a young boy but he didn't make it.

He said he was very happy and proud when his song was used as the anthem in the 1990 world cup. He was an avid football fan. This was actually what brought him into the limelight.

He was into doing a lot of charities as well. He said it became a passion for him after he met Princess Diana.

Luciano Pavarotti underwent five bouts of chemotherapy and was eventually released from the hospital last month. He had been unconscious the last couple of days and eventually died this morning, thursday, 6th september, 2007.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

stroke

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today.)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999 immediately!! and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Better Safe Than Sorry.

Crucial safety Tips sent to me by my friend.
Thought i should share it with y'all since we don't have a lot of these problems here.
Because of recent abductions in the U.S. in daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do
in an emergency situation... It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1 Tip from Tae Kwon Do : The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!
2. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it
away from you.... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR , LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head
DO NOT DRIVE OFF, repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you.
If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it . As soon as the car crashes
bail out and run.
It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor , and in the back seat
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door . Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side.
If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely
WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably ! in a zig -zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP! It may get you raped,
or killed.
Ted Bundy, a U.S. serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
************* Here it is *******
9. Another Safety Point:
Someone said her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.
The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said,"We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."
He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby.
He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.
Please DO NOT open the door for a crying baby!!!
This post should be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America's Most Wanted recently when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana
It may save a life.
This is a reminder that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Revaluing the Nigerian Naira.

I won't say i am very comfortable with this Naira revaluation news. I first read about it on my sister's blog http://www.lindaikeji.blogspot.com/ and tot WTF?!. Then heard it on the radio and on the News. It's a good idea but right now, i think its utter ***ness.
How are the poor going to cope? We manufacture VERY little things here.
The country depends on importation of goods and services to survive. We have got VAST Oil but have to depend on foreign refineries and expats to produce Oil. We used to be large exports of Oil, Minerals, Cocoa, Rubber but the concentration is now more on Oil.
If we want to improve the situation in this country, i think the government should concentrate more on revamping our Oil refineries, and start producing goods locally so we can export them and better the economy of the country.
The Japanese yen has got more value than the US dollar now because their export rates increased. When a country exports goods, there will be more money coming into the country than leaving the country. In order words, the country's economy would grow thereby affecting the value of its currency and enriching its citizens.
I don't think revaluing the Naira would help the country grow. I think concentrating on manufacturing products locally and creating a safe environment for Investors to invest here would help the economy grow. With the manufacture of local goods and Investors coming in, there will be job opportunities to graduates and skilled people, thus reducing the poverty and crime rate in the country.
I don't want to talk much on this topic cos its generating a lot of debates but i will paste what Chief Olu Falae and other renowned Nigerians think about it.
Pls read on:
Chief Olu Falae, secretary to the federal government during the General Ibrahim Babangida regime and one-time finance minister said the new policy has no distinct advantage.
"I don't see much need in the hurry to revalue the naira. The new naira policy has no distinct advantage. I think we should be very careful and properly study what we are planning to go in for and see the potential dangers. How will this policy positively impart on the lives of the ordinary people? Have we thought of that? If it won't positively affect the people, then, why do it? It has no advantage. It won't benefit us. I don't see the positive impart on the ordinary person.
"Okay, what is it saying? It's about knocking off two zeros. If you are earning N10,000 a month and two zeros are knocked off, you will begin to earn N100.
If a loaf of bread is N100 and you knock off two zeros, it would become N1. But would the market woman just knock off two zeros from everything she is selling? Your employer can conveniently do that but a person selling N100 can reduce N10 and sell the bread for N90 and I tell you, that policy can only reduce inflation by 10 per cent. It cannot leave us better-off or worse off.
Can a market woman selling bread divide a loaf of N100 by removing two zeros? Employers can do it but the ordinary people can't and their interest has to be considered. So, why do I it if it won't benefit them?"
Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, also a former finance minister and one-time minister of national planning in his response said what is going on at present says, "If we want to revalue the naira to become comparable to the dollar, we would need a new currency". Ghana recently reprinted the cedi and today in Ghana, there is the new Cedi. My worry is the mix-up in what is going on now, because I don't think it will affect the value of the naira. So, why do that? Would the rural people understand this thing? Does it have anything with Nigeria wanting to be the hub of West Africa? If we want to revalue the naira, we cannot do that with the present notes we have and it's unthinkable to change because we just printed new notes and brought back coins.
"What will affect the value of the naira is the state of our economy. So, why go through the pains when we should concentrate on how to restructure our economy and make life more meaningful for the people? We should approach this Vision 2020 with caution. CBN should take it easy because we are doing too much gra-gra over it. We are doing too much of targeting and visioning. If we want to dominate West Africa with our currency, we shouldn't make noise about it. We should just let it happen. We should be wise and focus more on starting properly. We have so many unpaid pensioners, unemployed graduates, bad roads and collapsed infrastructure requiring government attention. Let's start with them first before going on to this talk about revaluing the naira. I don't understand the hurry."
Former governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife toes a similar line.
"The way I understand this thing, it won't change anything. It's a matter of reducing the number of zeros on the naira and reducing the number of millionaires in the system. The new naira policy simply means that somebody who is a millionaire today may not be a millionaire anymore by August 2008.
"Some people have been calling me to ask questions on the implication of this on their business and the economy. Some traders are asking if they should sell off everything in stock or keep them but I have told them it does not matter. It's just CBN trying to define zero or add value to it. It makes no basic difference but helps only in book-keeping and accounting.
"If one dollar is equal to one naira, then, we wont be buying bread with N150 but one naira. The number of millionaires will reduce. Somebody who has one million naira will now only have ten thousand after you have removed two zeros. If your salary is N10,000 and two zeros are knocked off, it will become N100 per month because N10,000 has been revalued to N100.
One Nigerian pound used to be three dollars. N10 will become one kobo. Denominations like N5 or 50k may still be worth something but too small to be counted."
Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, an Kano based elder statesman and First Republic politicians explains the new policy is meant to increase the purchasing power of the naira.
"The naira is now revalued and the currency is moved upward and the purchasing power would be stronger. But I don't understand what would happen to the smaller denominations because I foresee a situation where the holders of small denominations would lose eventually and these consist the poor and the ordinary people. If naira is revalued, there would be nothing to do with 50k, N1 and other small denominations and I hope CBN knows what this new policy can do to poor people."

Zidane Vs Materazzi World Cup Insult.

Italian defender Marco Materazzi finally revealed what he said to provoke Zinedine Zidane to knock him out with a head-butt in the last World Cup final.
He said he told Zidane "I prefer the whore that is your sister".

Zidane head-butted Materazzi in the chest with 10 minutes left in last year's final. He was sent off for violent conduct. Italy went on to win the game in a penalty-kick shootout after the score was 1-1 after extra time.
Materazzi, who received a two-game ban for incitement, has since apologized to Zidane.

France coach Raymond Domenech this month lauded Materazzi's strategy for getting Zidane out of the game.
"I say 'bravo' to him," the coach said.

A lot of the South American players are GOOD but they are very dubious in the field as well. Chriatiano Ronaldo is a FANTASTIC player but he 'dives' a lot. He dives, they get a free kick or penalty or something. This trick has helped his team win games a couple of times. Look at what he did to Rooney in the last world cup game. He dived, Rooney reacted and was sent off. They (Portugal) went on to beat England in that game.

THE POWER OF BOOZE !

A man is waiting for his wife to give birth. The doctor comes in and informs the dad that his son was born without torso, arms or legs. The son is just a head! But the dad loves his son and raises him as well as he can, with love and compassion.
After 21 years, the son is now old enough for his first drink. Dad takes him to the bar, tearfully tells the son he is proud of him and orders up the biggest, strongest drink for his boy.
With all the bar patrons looking on curiously and the bartender shaking his head in disbelief, the boy takes his first sip of alcohol. Swoooosh! Plop!! A torso pops out! The bar is dead silent; then bursts into whoops of joy.
The father, shocked, begs his son to drink again. The patrons chant "Take another drink!" The bartender continues to shake his head in dismay. Swoooosh! Plip! Plop!! Two arms pop out. The bar goes wild.
The father, crying and wailing, begs his son to drink again. The patrons chant, "Take another drink! Take another drink!!"
The bartender ignores the whole affair and goes back to polishing glasses, shaking his head, clearly unimpressed by the amazing scenes.
By now the boy is getting tipsy, but with his new hands he reaches down, grabs his drink and guzzles the last of it. Plop! Plip!! Two legs pop out. The bar is in chaos.
The father falls to his knees and tearfully thanks God.
The boy stands up on his new legs and stumbles to the left then staggers to the right through the front door, into the street, where a truck runs over him and kills him instantly.
The bar falls silent.
The father moans in grief.
The bartender sighs and says,"He should've quit while he was a head!"
